When you log out of the Citrix environment, the computer is reset, so any documents you saved locally to the virtual desktop will be lost. It is very important to make sure you understand where you are saving when in the Citrix environment.
To save from a Chromebook:
1. From the Citrix application on your Chromebook, select "Save As"
2. From the "Save As" screen, select "Browse"
3. Under "This PC" there select "Save To My Device"

Installing Citrix Workspace on your UNI Managed Apple device
Navigate to the Applications Folder in Finder
Launch Self Service
Log in with your CatID and passphrase
Navigate to the Applications tab
Locate Citrix Workspace and press install
Once it install, search for Citrix Workspace on your device and launch it
Add the account vdi.uni.edu
Sign in with your CatID and Passphrase
Depending on what you have access to navigate to Apps or Desktops tab.

1. Browse to https://chrome.google.com/webstore
2. Search for Citrix Workspace, and select Apps
3. Click “Add to Chrome” by the Citrix Workspace app that says it is “Offered by: Citrix”
You will be prompted to confirm you want to add the app, click “Add app”
4. Once the app is installed, browse to https://vdi.uni.edu
5. Log in with your CatID
6. Select App or Desktops from the Citrix StoreFront page to select the resources you need access to.

On March 19th, 2020, The University of Northern Iowa received additional licensing assistance from Adobe that will allow students currently enrolled at the university to install Adobe Creative Cloud (CC) applications on their personally-owned devices. It is important to note that this license is only valid until May 31st, 2020. Occasionally a reset of the Citrix Workspace is needed to fix issues with applications or desktops not appearing in Citrix Workspace.
Procedure to reset on an Mac:
Open the Workspace App
In the upper left corner of your screen, next to the Apple symbol, click on Citrix Workspace and select Preferences:
In the Preferences window, click on the Accounts tab then select the VDI account shown in the middle of the window. Next, click the Minus button and OK to confirm removing the account

Citrix Virtual Desktop and Applications is a service provided by Information Technology at UNI that allows students, faculty and staff access to licensed applications from their personal devices.
To access Citrix, navigate to https://vdi.uni.edu and sign in with your CatID and password.
All UNI students and faculty have access to the Purple Desktop in Citrix and stand alone applications, in the apps tab.

Installing Citrix Workspace on your UNI Managed Windows Device
Search your computer for Software Center
Launch Software Center
On the Applications tab, look for Citrix Workspace and select it
Press the Purple Install button
Once it installs, search for Citrix Workspace on your device and launch it
When installing Workspace if prompted to Enable Single Sign-on do not enable that option

Duo is UNI's multi-factor authentication system used to protect accounts. Duo is currently integrated with Citrix to protect access to the Citrix Workspace.
There are a few factors if you will need to authenticate with Duo to gain access to your Workspace desktop or application, they are:
Duo Enrollment
Currently, all faculty and staff are enrolled in Duo.
Not all students are enrolled in Duo. If you are not enrolled, you won't need to authenticate with Duo.
