Can I install any of these applications on my local machine instead?
Yes, and we encourage you to do so! This helps with Citrix licensing numbers and also makes it so you will not have to run the applications from the Internet. Here are a list of applications we are aware of:

The University of Northern Iowa (UNI) has added InCommon as a provider of Certificates and Digital Signatures. Due to this, UNI is required to provide notice of the binding of Relying Parties to InCommon's Relying Party Agreement. A Relying Party encompasses any entity that relies on a Certificate or Digital Signature provided by InCommon. The Relying Party Agreement may be viewed online at www.incommon.org/cert/repository.

To use the Zoom integration with your Google Calendar account, first click on Create from your Google Calendar.
This will open up a window to create a new calendar entry. Click on More Options.
Enter all of the information for your event. Click Add Conferencing and select Zoom Meeting.
The system will tell you that a login is required. Click Log in.
The system will open up a new browser window, prompting you to log in. DO NOT enter your UNI credentials here, but click sign in with Google at the bottom of the screen.
Click on your “uni.edu” account to log in.

Citrix VDI using dual monitors on the web browser
In order to utilize multiple monitors with a Citrix VDI desktop while using a web browser, follow these steps:
Open your VDI Desktop
In the middle top of the screen locate a half circle with three vertical lines, hover over this
Click on the Citrix icon that will appear
Click on the icon with two monitors
This will pop out a second screen, drag this over to your second monitor
The main monitor can be set to full screen, but the additional monitor can just be a large browser window

Some UNI services require Duo, a multi-factor authentication system that protects your account. To enroll, follow these instructions on the Duo website:

After you are enrolled and provisioned, you will be prompted to use your new authentication device (for example, your cell phone) to access the UNI service that requires it.

If you want Google Mail to display your name or a departmental name differently, follow the steps below:
Log into the account with a web browser
Select the Google "gear" (in upper-right area)
Select Settings
Select Accounts
Select edit Info
Select the second radio button under Name
Enter what the name you want displayed in the text box
Choose Save changes

Preparing MacOS to save in Citrix
Issue 1: Citrix Requires permission to save files on a Mac laptop or desktop. To set this permission:
Log in to Citrix Workspace
In the upper right hand corner there is a downward pointing triangle next to your name or "menu" if not logged in, click on that to open the Citrix Settings menu
Choose Preferences
Once the Citrix Settings menu opens choose "File Access"
Select "Read and Write"
Close that box and return to the main Citrix Workspace screen and you are finished.
