Anti-virus and anti-spyware software, more easily defined as anti-malware software, are probably the most important pieces of software any Windows system can have. While Macs, Linux, and other systems are vulnerable to virus and spyware attacks as well, the design of their systems and their lower market share has made them less desirable to malicious software developers.
PLEASE NOTE: This article is intended for personally-owned machines only. UNI systems should have their anti-virus and anti-spyware software managed by the appropriate support staff.

Q: I have other calendars (rooms, resources, etc.) that I need to create, how can I do this?
Departmental resources will be maintained by the department and are not maintained centrally.
The resources (meeting rooms, etc.) are setup as a separate calendar (i.e. the room calendar) and when you invite the (room) to the meeting you have to invite the rather long calendar ID found by looking at the resource's settings to the right of "Calendar Address:". Exporting Google group members:
Login to your UNI email account at www.uni.edu/email
Click on the "Groups" link at the top of the page.
On the "My Groups" page, click on the group to be managed.
Click on the "Manage" button at the top right next to the gear icon

CatID Passphrase Complexity Requirements
A passphrase must be at least 15 characters long (maximum is 30) and may contain both uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, symbols, and spaces. While there are no specific requirements for different types of characters to be used, a combination of characters is recommended, such as "my 3rd car was a T-bird" or “I love my passphrase”. Other important details include:
• Passphrases cannot begin or end with a blank space
• Passphrases can contain US English characters

Departmental groups are updated nightly from current information in the Oracle eBusiness system. Each group contains addresses for university staff in that particular department. These mailing lists are not restricted in normal use. However, combining multiple groups for a single mailing may be considered abuse and will be dealt with accordingly.
These lists include faculty, staff and externals with assignments within the specified organization. Email holds are not recognized for faculty and staff. Externals will not receive the email if they have an email hold on their record.

Faculty Focus - Intersession Technology Workshops
Faculty Focus features a number of workshops to assist faculty in learning skills to more effectively integrate technology into teaching and learning. These workshops are offered the week just prior to the beginning of the Fall and Spring semesters. The team of Instructional Designers and Faculty Integration Specialists from IT-Educational Technology & Media Services are available during Faculty Focus week to work with faculty through workshops and consultation.

Some groups are configured such that anyone who wants to join can do so without needing an invitation from a manager.
To join a group that allows self subscription:
Send an email to myunigroupname+subscribe@uni.edu. (Substitue myunigroupname with the address of the group you'd like to join.)
Within a minute or two, you will receive an email that includes steps to confirm your membership.
To leave a group:
You can remove yourself from a group using any of these steps:

The CatID Account Recovery Tool allows you to register alternate contact information, either a non-UNI email address or a cell phone number, in order to allow you to reset your CatID passphrase sometime in the future should you forget it. Follow the instructions below to set up your recovery capabilities.
Step 1: Log into MyUNIverse. Once logged in, look in the upper-right-hand corner for the pagelet titled My Account. There you'll see a link titled CatID Account Recovery Setup. Click that.

Search Roles
Search Roles is a function that allows you to get information on different roles.
In the system pulldown box select a system and left click the "search role" button.
You left click the radio button to the left of the role under the select column and can then select to view the role or request the role by left clicking the corresponding button.
When you click the "View Role" button the following information on the role will appear.
To return to the Search Role page just left click the "back to role search" button.
