Closed captions are required for UNI videos that are made public according to federal laws Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Closed captions as an accommodation for a specific student also falls under these laws. If you need closed captions as an accommodation for a student, please contact Student Accessibility Services. You can edit the automatically generated captions in your own YouTube channel, and do the same for your Panopto videos. Also, Information Technology offers a closed captioning service for public-facing videos to campus. YouTube videos (from your own channel) can have closed captions created for them. IT can also caption public-facing video for your Panopto videos, Google drive videos, etc. To make use of this service simply open a Service Hub incident by logging into the portal and giving us the information about the online video content you want captioned. Your request will be automatically routed to the correct place within IT.
