UNI, like most institutions with data or services to protect, has embraced Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) to add an extra layer of protection to institutional and personal data. MFA, sometimes referred to as two-factor authentication, simply means that an additional factor above and beyond your password is required to successfully login to protected systems. Your first factor is something you know, or your CatID password. The additional factor must be something that you have or something that you are. This combination of something you know and something you have provides greater security for your data and access to services here at UNI.
UNI has chosen to Duo Security to provide MFA. Duo has many options to provide the additional factor, including a smartphone app or physical tokens. In some instances, SMS text messages or phone calls might be available. This page contains documentation and help resources for the UNI community to successfully use Duo MFA.
