Duo application update required by February 2, 2026 (Multifactor Authentication)
The vendor behind the Duo Mobile app has announced that starting February 2, 2026, they will no longer support older versions of the app (specifically versions older than 4.85.0). This is due to a security update in how the app communicates with Duo’s servers.
How to verify your app version:
- Check for updates: Open the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play Store (Android), search for "Duo Mobile," and see if an "Update" button is available. Perform the update if the button is available to you.
- Check your version: Open the Duo app on your phone, tap the menu (three lines), and look at the bottom of the screen. If the number starts with 4.85 or higher, you are already on a compatible version of the application. (As of today, the latest update for iOS is 4.103.0.1436.1)
What if I do not update the Duo app by Feb 2, 2026? If you are still running Duo app 4.85 or earlier after Feb 2, 2026, you will no longer be able to authenticate to UNI systems with the Duo application. This will restrict your access to key systems such as Gmail, Blackboard, UNI Works, etc.
What if my phone is unable to update? If your device or mobile operating system is too old to support the latest version of Duo Mobile, you may need to acquire a Duo token. A token may be purchased at the UNI bookstore.
