Information Technology deployed a new wireless network across campus over the summer break called eduroam. You'll see this network SSID available anywhere that WiFi-UNI is available. Eduroam should be considered the new university standard wireless network for students, faculty, and staff. WiFi-UNI will remain available for a period of time in order to assist with the transition.
So why the change? Eduroam is a secure, world-wide wireless access service available at hundreds of universities, colleges, and research institutions. By connecting to eduroam here at UNI, your mobile device will be able to connect seamlessly and without further configuration at any of these other eduroam institutions.
Authentication for eduroam is slightly different than for the older WiFi-UNI
wireless network. Your username is your Cat ID @uni.edu
. For example, email@example.com
. Your Cat ID passphrase is still used to authenticate. More resources and help links are available at the end of this announcement.
Please feel free to convert your devices to using the new eduroam network. For UNI-owned equipment, your support staff will be working with you to change configurations as necessary.
As always, if you have questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to get in touch with the IT Service Desk at 273-5555 or via email at firstname.lastname@example.org
