Getting Started with EC-500

Through 06/30/2021 billing will be waived on all new EC-500 requests.

**Due to limited licenses, requests will be approved based on need.**

EC-500 is a telephone service that allows you to receive calls to your UNI phone and your personal phone simultaneously. Multiple personal phone numbers can be configured - all numbers must be registered.

 

Enabling and Disabling EC-500 from your UNI phone:

Avaya EC500 Enable

  • Locate the On/Off EC-500 button on your office telephone. You may need to use your arrow keys on your phone to navigate to the page with the button.

When enabled, calls will ring on both your UNI phone as well as your remote phone. The status of EC-500 is indicated with green for on. When EC-500 is enabled, verify Send Calls button is disabled.

For standard UNI office phones, calls not answered will go to your UNI voice mailbox. However, if your remote phone is off, unreachable or if you decline the call, unanswered calls will go to your remote phone mailbox.

 

Enable EC-500 remotely:

Using ANY phone complete the following:

  • Dial 319-273-5100
  • Receive dial tone.
  • Enter *98 to enable
  • Receive dial tone.
  • Enter 5 digit UNI extension number (ex. 3XXXX)
  • Press #
  • Enter your security code (the code is your unique pin)
  • Press #
  • Receive 3-beep confirmation tone.
  • EC-500 is now enabled

 

Disable EC-500 remotely:

Using ANY phone complete the following:

  • Dial 319-273-5100
  • Receive dial tone.
  • Enter #98 to disable
  • Receive dial tone.
  • Enter 5 digit UNI extension number (ex. 3XXXX)
  • Press #
  • Enter your security code (the code is your unique pin)
  • Press #
  • Receive 3-beep confirmation tone.
  • EC-500 is now disabled

 

To Activate/Deactivate Send Calls Remotely from cellphone

You MUST call from your configured remote personal phone

  • Activate: Dial 319-273-5235 receive 3-beep confirmation tone.
  • Deactivate: Dial 319-273-5236 receive 3-beep confirmation tone

Note: EC-500 must be turned-off for Send-Calls to work properly.

 

Change EC-500 remote number:

The phone number MUST be registered with Information Technology.  Register here.

From ANY remote phone:

STEP 1: To remove existing number from EC-500:

  • Dial 319-273-5100
  • Receive dial tone.
  • Enter *96
  • Receive dial tone.
  • Enter 5 digit UNI extension number (ex. 35964)
  • Press #
  • Enter your security code (the code is your unique pin)
  • Press #
  • Enter * * # (star, star, pound)
  • Receive 3-beep confirmation tone.
  • Hang-up
  • Wait about 10 seconds before proceeding to the add procedure

STEP 2: To add different phone number to EC-500:​

  • Dial 319-273-5100
  • Receive dial tone.
  • Enter *96
  • Receive dial tone.
  • Enter 5 digit UNI extension number (ex. 3XXXX)
  • Press #
  • Enter your security code (the code is your unique pin)
  • Press #
  • Enter the 10 digit number (ex 3192341234)
  • Press #
  • Receive 3-beep confirmation tone.
  • Hang-up
  • Wait about 10 seconds before proceeding to the add procedure

Place a call so your caller ID is your campus number:

  • EC500 uses your UNI extension ascallerID for any call to other UNI extensions. If you'd like to use your UNI number for Caller ID to a non-UNI numbers. follow these instructions.
  • Call 319-273-5228, you can speed-dial 273-5228 from your cellphone
  • After calling you'll hear a dialtone 
  • Then dial as though you were at your deskphone
    • Five-digit extension numbers for on-campus
    • 9+local 7 digit number for local calls
    • 9 + 1 + 10-digit LD number for outbound long distance
    • and similar for other long distance
