Blackboard Ultra Updates: October 2026

Our iteration of Blackboard was updated to v4001.0 on 10/1/2026 followed by v4001.2 on 10/15/26.

Here is a rundown of some of the updates that were applied.

  • Restrict accepted file types for assignment submissions
  • Improvements to the beta Content Editor in Blackboard Documents
  • Start AI Conversations in a new immersive experience
  • Lock an AI Conversation to a specific language
  • Specific members rule no longer blocks other release conditions
  • Export and import rubrics
  • Manage rubrics from a dedicated course rubrics page
  • Display username and last access date in the gradebook grid view
  • Display points possible in the gradebook list view
  • Restore submission receipt search for anonymously graded assignments
  • View exception indicators in the gradebook grid view

Some of these improvements were made possible through the Idea Exchange.  The Idea exchange allows you to share, like, vote, and comment on your favorite ideas for improving Blackboard.
